Personnel of the Ghanaian Battalion (UNIFIL GH 91) serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) climaxed their tour of duty with a Mission Accomplishment Thanksgiving Service at the 5 Garrison Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Burma Camp, on Saturday 20 September 2025.

The service was held to thank God for His protection and guidance throughout the battalion’s one-year peacekeeping deployment in Southern Lebanon. It also provided an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifices of the troops and to appreciate the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), families and well-wishers whose support sustained them during the mission.

In his opening remarks, the Commanding Officer (CO), Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Kobe Boako, described the successful completion of the mission amid ened regional tensions as a testament to God’s goodness and mercy. He praised the troops for their discipline, commitment and resilience in carrying out their duties and expressed deep gratitude to the Military High Command for its support, guidance and provision of logistics, which ensured the smooth execution of the mandate.

The Guest of Honour, Chief Staff Officer at the Army Headquarters, Brigadier General Lloyd Atror, who represented the Chief of Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, congratulated the troops for their steadfastness and outstanding service in Lebanon. He commended GHANBATT 91 for upholding high standards of discipline, teamwork and operational efficiency despite the complexities of the mission. He also urged them to continue exhibiting loyalty, selfless service and integrity as they reintegrate into their home units.
