
The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has held a solemn candlelight vigil at the Airforce Base, Accra on Tuesday 12 August 2025 to honour the memories of the Defence Minster and the military personnel who perished in the Adansi helicopter crash.
The Deputy Minister for Defence, Honourable Ernest Brogya Genfi, eulogizing the soldiers, mentioned that they embodied dedication and stood as pillars of discipline and loyalty, giving their lives in service to protect the peace and sovereignty of the nation.
He called on all entrusted with leadership to give their utmost in the discharge of their duties and assured GAF of the government’s solidarity in this time of pain.


Director General of Religious Affairs, Brigadier General Godson Kumi Woode, reflected on the tragic incident through the lens of Paul’s words in Romans, reminding personnel that trials produce perseverance, character and hope. He likened the service of the fallen soldiers to Paul’s steadfast mission, urging personnel to remain resolute in duty, united in purpose and assured the bereaved families of God’s abiding presence and comfort in this period of grief.



Earlier, the Base Commander Air Commodore Elvis King Arneson stated that the vigil was to reflect on and remember the dedication and commitment of the fallen soldiers and honour them for their contributions to GAF. He added that their sacrifice would inspire troops to continue serving with pride.
The Base Commander assured the bereaved families that the government and GAF stand firmly with them in this difficult period.

Colleagues of the fallen personnel paid tribute to their professionalism, discipline and unwavering dedication to duty, describing them as exemplary soldiers who upheld the finest tradition of GAF. They lauded their courage and selflessness in service to the national colours.
