Chief of Staff (COS) at the General Headquarters, Major General Joseph Prince Osei-Owusu has cut sod for the construction of a water farm, new sewage systems in Burma Camp on Friday 19 April 2024. The projects form part of the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah's welfare projects aimed at dealing with the infrastructural deficit in Burma Camp and improving the welfare of personnel. The new sewage system would start from the Arakan Barracks and married quarters accommodation behind Defence Intelligence (DI) office block would be replicated in all Barracks. The water farm expected to produce about 100,000 liters of potable water daily at Airforce Barracks would also be replicated at four different locations within Burma Camp and two in Teshie to improve water distribution to the Camps. On the accommodation, the COS cut the sod for a 4-unit, 2-bedroom 3-storey to replace a previous single bedroom facility razed by fire behind DI. In a related event, the COS also commissioned two newly installed 315 KVA transformers at Duala Barracks to address the acute power challenge.
