US Government and Ghana Navy commissions a 3-unit classroom block for Galotse District Assembly Basic School

The United States Government, through the US Navy Construction Battalion (US Navy Seabees), in collaboration with the Ghana Navy have commissioned a 3-unit classroom block at the Galotse District Assembly Basic School, Sogakope on Wednesday 22 January 2025.

The initiative, the second of its kind by the US Navy Seabees in the Sogakope District underscores the strong partnership between Ghana and the United States, emphasising a shared commitment to community development.

Ahead of the commissioning, the Deputy Head of Mission at the United States Embassy in Ghana, Mr Rolf Olson, led a delegation visit to the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) the Naval Training Command, Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi where the FOC expressed his gratitude to the Seabees for their support and collaboration, highlighting the importance of the continued partnership as part of their shared corporate social responsibilities.

Commodore Asiedu-Larbi noted that the relationship between the Ghana Navy and the US Navy Seabees dates back to the late 1990s when the Seabees constructed sickbays at the Western and Eastern Naval Commands. He lauded their unwavering support for the Ghana Navy and their continued contributions to development.

During the commissioning, Mr Rolf Olson, reaffirmed the commitment of United States as a dependable partner with an assurance to continuously support community development efforts.

The District Director of Education, Mrs Celestine Kosi Agodo, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the US Embassy, the US Navy, the Ghana Navy, traditional leaders, and teachers for their collective efforts. She emphasised the importance of working together to ensure students receive quality education.
