A delegation from the Service Integrity Savings & Loans (SIS&L), led by Ms Gillian Slater, the Board Chair , has paid a condolence visit to the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) William Agyapong, at the General Headquarters on Thursday 14 August 2025.

The visit, according to the leader of the delegation, was prompted by the devastating news of the recent accident involving the loss of the Ministers for Defence and Environment, Science and Technology, 3 top government officials, and personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). She stated that, as part of the wider Armed Forces family, SIS&L could not sit back without showing solidarity, hence their presence to stand side by side with GAF in honour of the fallen. The team also made a financial donation in support of the bereaved families.

In response, Lieutenant General Agyapong described the past week as a difficult period for the entire nation, noting that the late Minister for Defence was a man of great vision and passion for the Armed Forces. He added that GAF was equally grieving the loss of other government officials and, most importantly, soldiers who were carrying out normal duties but died in the line of service.

Recalling fondly, the CDS mentioned that the same aircrew involved in the incident had previously flown him during tours of the 3 and 4 Garrisons barely 3 weeks ago.

He expressed appreciation to SIS&L for sharing in GAF’s grief, assuring the delegation that their condolences and support would be conveyed to the families of the bereaved.
