A delegation from the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), led by its Director General, Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, on Wednesday, 13 August 2025, paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General (Lt Gen) William Agyapong at the General Headquarters.Brigadier General Mantey acknowledged the fallen soldiers’ diligence and professionalism, noting that although their lives were cut short, they died in the line of duty. He expressed appreciation to the CDS for granting the delegation the opportunity to convey their sympathies in person.The CDS used the opportunity to commend NACOC for executing its mandate effectively and urged the Commission to maintain its high operational standards. He observed that their decision to visit and sympathise reflected a shared sense of loss and solidarity, adding that such gestures and words of encouragement provide the morale needed to carry on during trying times.
The CDS further stated that the sacrifice of the fallen was not in vain and assured the delegation that all measures are being taken to uncover the full circumstances of the incident. He noted that the tragedy has drawn national attention to broader security concerns requiring urgent focus. Again, he recommended a broadening scope of Ghana’s educational curriculum to include disaster response.The CDS expressed gratitude to NACOC for their visit and support, reaffirming the bond between both institutions in safeguarding the nation.
