Major General (Maj Gen) Mathew Essien has assumed duties as Commandant of the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC) on Tuesday 16 April, 2024. During a brief ceremony at the office of the Commandant in Otu Barracks, Teshie, Major General Bismack Kwesi Onwonah, handed over the leadership responsibilities of GAFCSC to Maj Gen Essien after giving him a comprehensive brief on the operational, logistical, and administrative state of the College. The handing and taking over ceremony serve as a platform to bid farewell to officers and staff of the Command. It also facilitates the establishment of rapport between the incoming Commandant and the personnel to ensure smooth transition of leadership and continuity of operations. The ceremony, a significant milestone in the annals of the College was witnessed by the Chief of Staff (COS) at the General Headquarters, Maj Gen Joseph Price Osei-Owusu. It featured a quarter guard and a band display.
