The Commanding Officer of the Spanish Offshore Patrol Vessel BAM RAYO (P-42), Lieutenant (Lt) Commander (CDR) José Antonio Parejo Cabezas, has called on the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Eastern Naval Command (ENC), Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi, on Thursday 9 October 2025 in Tema. The visit formed part of efforts to strengthen cooperation between the Spanish Navy and the Ghana Navy through joint training, professional exchanges, and a shared commitment to promoting maritime security and stability in the Gulf of Guinea. Lieutenant Commander Parejo explained that the deployment of BAM RAYO aims to enhance the capabilities of coastal states in managing and protecting their maritime domains. He noted that Spain’s presence in the Gulf of Guinea demonstrates its commitment to international security, fostering trust and understanding. He also commended the Ghana Navy for maintaining a safe and secure maritime environment, describing the country as a reliable and peaceful partner in the region. In his remarks, Commodore Asiedu-Larbi emphasized the commitment on the part of the Ghana Navy to collaborate with friendly navies to ensure maritime safety and security. He emphasised that international partnerships and information sharing were essential in addressing transnational maritime threats and advancing regional cooperation. Plaques were exchange of between the two navies, symbolising friendship and continued partnership in promoting regional maritime security.
