The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Honourable Samuel A Jinapor has described the Ghana Armed Forces, (GAF) as the sine qua non tool in the management of mineral resources in Ghana. He noted, GAF had played important roles in safeguarding the environment, while helping the ministry deal with the menace of illegal mining and logging. The Minister said these, when he led a delegation from the Ministry to call on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) Lieutenant General Thomas-Oppong Peprah at the General Headquarters on Tuesday 19 March, 2024. He further disclosed, plans were far advanced for GAF to host the 2024 Commemorative Green Ghana Day on Friday 7 June 2024. The CDS thanked the Minister for the visit and assured of his commitment to continue working together to safeguard the environment and protect Ghana against any threat. He also assured the Minister of GAF’s readiness to host the National tree planting exercise in commemorating Green Ghana Day.
