The Support Services Command Headquarters (HQ SPS VC) of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has held an opening ceremony for the Support Services Command Young Officers Cadre at the Defence Mechanical Training Battalion auditorium, Burma Camp on Wednesday 13 August 2025. The three-day programme would feature lectures, practical demonstrations and interactive sessions to enhance operational efficiency and leadership competence among junior officers. It would also broaden their military knowledge and provide guidance on planning for retirement through team-building exercises and discussions on emerging security challenges. He noted that leadership and selflessness are integral to military service and should inspire officers to work diligently towards their goals. He further urged them to prepare adequately for retirement, as transitioning from military service to civilian life would be challenging. The Commanding Officer Military Police, Lieutenant Colonel Persi Odartey Lamptey, encouraged participants to remain ever-prepared for their duties and to continually acquire new skills. He stressed on readiness as a core aspect of an officer’s life, beginning with self-awareness, continuous learning and a thorough understanding of military principles.Speaking at the ceremony on behalf of the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Brigadier General Selassie Gagakumah, the Deputy General Officer Commanding Support Services, Brigadier General Asiamah, emphasised the importance of professional development, networking and strategic planning for young officers in the GAF.
