HQ S/COMD CAMP WINS EXERCISE ‘KULLUM SHIRRI 2025’

Headquarters Southern Command (HQ S/Comd) Camp has been adjudged winners of the 2025 edition of the annual Southern Command Inter-Units March and Shoot competition code named, ‘Exercise Kullum Shirri’, held from 25 to 26 September 2025.

The team obtained 225.7 points out of the highest possible score of 300 points and defied stiff opposition from 5 Infantry Battalion, 2 Infantry Battalion and 1 Infantry Battalion, who placed 2nd,3rd, and 4th respectively, to win the contest.

The Guest of Honour, The Principal General Staff Officer (PGSO) at the Ministry of Defence, Brig Gen Ben Gah,  noted that testing the endurance and mental toughness of troops and their application of marksmanship principles on personal weapons resonates with the high level of professionalism among personnel of the Army.

Gen Gah commended the teams that partook in the competition, with special commendations going to the winning team, for the tact and finesse demonstrated in executing the tasks and demands of the exercise.

For his part, the Commanding Officer (CO) Headquarters Southern Command (Camp), Lt Col William Opoku applauded his men for the convincing win and thanked the General Officer Commanding (GOC), Brig Gen Isaac Nicholas Paintsil for the enormous support in the preparations towards the exercise, pledging his commitment to supporting the GOC’s vision for the command.

WOI Koli Emmanuel of Camp Southern Command and Cpl Baah-Acheamfour Charity of 5 Infantry Battalion were adjudged best male and female shots respectively.
