The Headquarters Northern Command has commenced a month-long Motorcycle Orientation Cadre for personnel on Monday 12 February, 2024. The Cadre aims at exposing riders to safety procedures, build their confidence to enable them operate functionally and tactically while improving on their capability and effectiveness to help the Units under the Command expand their motorcycles platoons. Addressing the participants, the Command Operations Officer, Colonel Franklyn Worlanyo Kwasi Agbebo stated that the security situation in the Northern Regions coupled with inaccessible nature of some areas have prompted the need to incorporate Motor Platoons in the organogram of the various Units to aid intelligence gathering and other operational conducts. He added that the use of the motor bikes have improved the Command’s assess to previously inaccessible locations by vehicles and less costly to maintain while achieving the requisite results. Col FWK Agbebo urged the participants to put every seriousness in the course to ensure that when they are deployed, the safety of both the rider and the occupant are assured. Facilitators of the cadre are instructors drawn from the Armed Forces Mechanical Transport Training School but only qualified participants would be issued licenses at the end of the training.
