The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General (Brig Gen) Worlanyo Agbebo has commended the Gambaga-Nalerigu Municipal Assembly for its support to the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF). The commendation follows the release of the former Gambaga Girls Senior High School premises to GAF for a temporary quick reaction base. He stated that the gesture would enable GAF to strengthen its presence in the area for the sustenance of peace and security. GOC made these submissions during a courtesy call on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Honourable David Barichie on Tuesday, 19 August 2025. In his response, Honourable Barichie lauded the professionalism of the troops stationed in the municipality and assured the continued support of the Assembly towards military operations. Thereafter, Brig Gen Agbebo inspected Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) at Walewale, Bukprungu, and Gambaga, where he interacted with troops. He urged them to remain vigilant and professional in the execution of their duties. GOC further visited the site earmarked for the construction of a new Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Walewale, highlighting the commitment of Command to enhancing operational effectiveness in the region.
