The Ghana Military Academy (GMA) has successfully conducted a four-day exercise code named “Ex Calm Nerves” at Whistler Barracks in Teshie from 20-23 January 2025.

The exercise was a simulated internal security threat scenarios where cadets were expected to plan and conduct operations to foil insurgency threat.

The objective of the exercise was to, practise cadets on the establishment and operations of a Joint Task Headquarters in Internal Security settings, as well as logging, marking and briefing on incidents.

Other practical areas included planning, preparation and execution of vehicle check point, key point guards, VIP escort, handling of Improvised Explosive Devices (IED’s), cordon and search operations, curfews, media interviews, Closed Quarter Battles (CQB) drills and Fighting in Built Up Areas (FIBUA).

The Director Military Division (DMD) Colonel Abass Atuluk commended the cadets for their display of professional conduct, tactics and intelligence to accomplish the task assigned them. He further urged the cadets to integrate the lessons learned from the exercise into their future operations.
