The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) Department of Religious Affairs has commenced a two-week Chaplains and Imams Course at the Garrison Methodist-Presbyterian Church (GMPC), Burma Camp on Monday 15 July, 2024. The Guest of Honour for the opening ceremony, Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations and Training at the General Headquarters, Major General (Maj Gen) Joseph Aphour, in his opening address said the contemporary challenges in recent times has made it important to train the clergy. Maj Gen Aphour mentioned that the primary goal of the course was to spread the Good News worldwide, with a mission to foster religious leadership and promote religious fellowship. The Acting Director General Religious Affairs Colonel Benjamin Godson Kumi-Woode, thanked the Military High Command for the approval and support towards the chaplaincy course. Organised in partnership with the Military Christian Fellowship (MCF) Ghana, the International Association of Evangelical Chaplains (IAEC) United States of America, the course aims at preparing the clergy to enable it surmount the challenges faced while providing religious support and other associated services to the military community as well as Commanders at all level.
