The Force Commander of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF), Major General Anita Asmah has undertaken a four-day familiarisation visit to the Ghanaian Battalion (GHANBATT 91) under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) from 18 to 21 August 2025.

The visit was to provide the Force Commander with first-hand insight into the operational realities of GHANBATT 91 particularly in the wake of cross-border escalations involving Israel, Hezbollah and Iran. The visit also afforded her the opportunity to boost the morale of troops.

She also commended the troops for their professionalism, dedication and commitment, emphasising the crucial role UNIFIL GHANBATT 91 plays in maintaining peace and stability in the region.

Major General Asmah expressed appreciation to the Commanding Officer, Lieutenant Colonel IK Boako for his exemplary leadership and encouraged the Battalion to sustain its high standards and continue delivering excellence in line with the objectives of the United Nations.

The visit concluded with a tour to some key sites within the area of operational responsibility of the battalion.
