The National Coordinator for the Fisheries Enforcement Unit (FEU), Commodore Faustina Boakyewaa Anokye Boakye, has called on the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Eastern Naval Command (ENC), Commodore Solomon Asiedu Larbi, on Wednesday 13 August 2025 in Tema.

The visit formed part of ongoing stakeholder engagements aimed at enhancing collaboration and exploring partnerships in safeguarding Ghana’s marine resources.

Commodore Anokye Boakye emphasised the need for unity of purpose, noting that all stakeholders are “on one ship” being Ghana and must work together towards the shared goal of sustainable fisheries management. She explained that one of the FEU’s key roles is to educate and sensitise fishing communities, a step she described as essential for ensuring compliance with fisheries regulations. She stressed that continuous outreach to fisherfolk is vital for promoting responsible fishing practices and conserving marine resources for the long term.

Reaffirming the FEU’s commitment to working closely with the Navy and other partners, she thanked the FOC for the Command’s support and urged even stronger cooperation in the future.

In response, Commodore Asiedu Larbi assured the FEU of the ENC’s readiness to provide the necessary support, including training, to achieve shared objectives in maritime security and fisheries protection. He reiterated the Command’s commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s waters in partnership with relevant stakeholders.

The engagement underscored the importance of inter-agency cooperation in protecting the nation’s fisheries resources and ensuring the sustainability of the maritime sector.
