The programme, which commenced on Tuesday 19 August 2025, was coordinated by the Director of Naval Religious Affairs, Commander David Benedict Quayson. Commander Quayson underscored the importance of counselling and continuous training in equipping families to cope with the unique demands of military service. He noted that deployments and prolonged separations often lead to emotional strains such as loneliness, anxiety, and depression for both personnel and their spouses. According to him, initiatives such as the marriage seminar are crucial in preparing families to manage these challenges and in fostering resilience among naval personnel. Facilitators for the programme were drawn from the Ghana Navy’s Religious and Legal Affairs Directorates, the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit (DOVVSU), and the 37 Military Hospital Wellness Centre. The Eastern Naval Command (ENC) has organised a two-day marriage seminar for personnel and their spouses at the Junior Rates Mess in Tema.
The seminar was designed to address marital challenges faced by personnel and their families, while creating a platform for couples to share experiences and learn from one another. It also provided guidance, counselling, and professional support to help strengthen family life within the Ghana Navy.
