ECOBANK PLC has cut the sod to commence renovation of the 4 Garrison Education Centre School Library on Saturday 19 October 2024. The move forms part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility efforts aimed at improving the infrastructure of schools within their catchment areas. The library, when completed, will be equipped with modern digital ICT tools, free internet connectivity, and six months of free tuition on Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, web development, and animation. The Garrison Education Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Robert Laryea Okoley, thanked ECOBANK PLC for the initiative. He indicated that the library would enhance the school’s performance in the field of science and technology, emphasising that the 4 Garrison Education Centre would continue to play a pivotal role in the lives of students in the region. The Zonal Manager of ECOBANK PLC, Ashanti Region, Mr Mike Owusu Achiaw, said the gesture would enhance the digital literacy of pupils while investing in the country’s human resources for the fourth industrial revolution. He explained that ECOBANK has focused on transforming education across the continent, with an emphasis on digital literacy. He acknowledged that AI can be harnessed to improve basic skills in literacy, numeracy, and digital literacy, which has the potential to transform education, making it more personalised, accessible, and effective than ever.
