The Director General (DG) Ghana Maritime Authority, (GMA) Captain (GN) Dr Kamal-Deen Ali (Rtd), has paid a courtesy call on the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Issah Adam Yakubu at the Naval Headquarters on Thursday 6 February 2025. The purpose of the visit was for him to formally introduce himself to the CNS as the newly appointed DG GMA and engage in a discourse that would strengthen bilateral relations between the Ghana Navy and GMA. The CNS congratulated Dr Kamal-Deen on his appointment and expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasising the interdependent roles of the two institutions. Vice Admiral Yakubu was optimistic that Dr Kamal-Deen's wealth of experience in both the Navy and Maritime Authority would help bridge existing gaps and improve maritime governance in Ghana, assuring him of the Navy's support. Captain (GN) Dr Kamal-Deen (Rtd) was highly appreciative of the CNS’ congratulatory gesture, noting it signified the Navy's support in helping address various challenges in the maritime sector and also serving as a pivot for collaboration with other maritime agencies. He expressed gratitude on behalf of his family to the Military High Command and senior officers in the Navy noting he looks forward to fostering stronger relations, generating great ideas and engaging in deeper conversations with stakeholders and other agencies in the maritime jurisdiction.
