A delegation from the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), led by Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan, on Thursday 14 August 2025 called on the Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General William Agyapong, at the General Headquarters to extend their condolences.
Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner-General and the delegation, Brigadier General Ashong Annan inimated the need to commiserate with the CDS , bereaved families and the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) at large in the wake of the recent tragic incident. He assured the CDS of their unwavering support and pledged their presence at all official activities related to the funeral. He further prayed for God’s strength and guidance for the CDS as he continued to steer the affairs of the Armed Forces during this difficult period. Lieutenant General Agyapong expressed deep appreciation for the visit, noting that as comrades in uniform, such gestures reaffirm that GAF is not alone in this period of grief. He bemoaned the short-lived visions of the late minister for GAF that were bound to transform the Armed Forces. Additionally, he recounted the dedication of the aircrew involved in the incident, recalling their professionalism during his garrisons inspection tour.
The CDS assured the delegation that their sympathies would be conveyed to the bereaved families and requested that they relay GAF’s gratitude to the Commissioner-General for the thoughtful gesture. A gesture, that serves as encouragement to the entire force. He emphasised that the sacrifice of the fallen will not be in vain.
