The Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Major General (Maj Gen) Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu has on Thursday, 21 August 2025 conducted an operational visit to the Army Peace Operations Training School (APOTS) Battle Training Camp (BTC) in Bundase.

The purpose was to engage with troops of Ghanaian Battalion 92 (GHANBATT 92) under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) who are concluding a seven-week pre-deployment training program.

COAS observed a simulation exercise where a patrol team was denied access on its route, thereby showcasing the negotiation skills and overall preparedness of troops for the mission.

As part of the visit, Maj Gen Gbetanu commissioned a newly renovated accommodation adjacent the general cookhouse. The project was undertaken by UNIFIL GHANBATT 92 under the leadership of Lieutenant Colonel Evans Yaw Kumedjah to augment the commitment of High Command to troop welfare.

At a durbar, Maj Gen Gbetanu reminded troops to be mindful of the existing conflicts in their mission area and demonstrate resilience in discharging their duties. He urged troops to utilize the appropriate chain of command to address concerns, rather than resort to social media.

The Commander APOTS, Colonel Reuben Dela Klutse updated COAS on the progress of the construction of multipurpose basketball and volleyball pitches as well as a standard football pitch for the school.
