The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, was among dignitaries who planted trees in commemoration of the 2024 National Green Ghana Day celebration. The occasion, which was held under the theme "Growing for a Greener Tomorrow", took place on Friday, 7 June 2024, at the Nicholson Stadium in Burma Camp with the President and Commander in Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces as the Guest of Honour. The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Honourable Samuel Abu Jinapor, commended the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for their commitment to the Green Ghana initiative since its inception in 2021. He stated that the project aims to combat deforestation, promote environmental sustainability, and contribute with the global fight against climate change. He added that this year's Green Ghana Day targets the planting and growth of 10 million trees across the country, highlighting that GAF seeks to plant 1,000 trees.
