The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS) Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah has said the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) would continue to collaborate with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) to enhance the welfare of personnel. He said this when he paid a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Commission, Mr Benjamin Arthur at his office in Labone on Monday 15 April, 2024. The CDS commended the CEO for the support GAF had benefited from the Commission and called for enhanced cooperation and used the opportunity to commiserate with him on the passing of his mother; encouraging him to remain strong. The CEO expressed appreciation to the CDS for the visit, disclosing it was the first time a CDS visited the Commission. He assured of his willingness to collaborate further with GAF within the remit of the constitution. He stated that the sacrifices personnel in the GAF make in global security and in defence of Ghana cannot be overemphasized. Among the CDS' entourage were the Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters, Maj Gen Joseph Prince Osei-Owusu, Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), Air Vice Marshal M Appiah-Agyekum, Defence Financial Comptroller, Brigadier General DK Amissah and Director General (Records), Brigadier General J Vander-Pallen.
