The Ghana Armed Forces Catering Training School at Whistler Barracks, Teshie has held an opening ceremony for the Caterers/Waiters BII Course 28 on Thursday 06 February 2025. The Guest of Honour, the Assistant Commandant (ASCOM) in charge of Tri-Service Training Schools, Air Commodore Gervase Wienaa welcomed the students and encouraged them to approach the course with all seriousness. He described the Caterer/Waiters profession as fundamental to the well-being of personnel which requires discipline, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure. He noted that participants would be exposed to the technicalities of catering as well as the core values of the military profession including honour, integrity, respect and service. “Throughout this course, expect to face challenges: There will be long hours, high standards and demanding situations but remember that challenges are growth opportunities” he added. He reiterated the need for the student to embrace the course with enthusiasm and commitment, remain disciplined, dedicated and professional in the discharge of their duties as they go through the course. In her opening remarks, the Officer Commanding the Ghana Armed Forces Catering Training School Lieutenant Mavis Aframa Mensah said the 18 weeks course which has been designed for participants to acquire knowledge in both theory and practical cookery as well as service of food and beverage, assembled a total of 118 students drawn from the Ghana Armed Forces.
