ACTS COMMENCES BATTALION COMMANDER’S COURSE 5

The Army Combat Training School (ACTS) has held an opening ceremony for the fifth batch of the Battalion Commander’s Course (BCC 5) at Buchanan Hall, Whistler Barracks, Teshie on Monday, 6 October 2025.

The 10-week course attracted a total of 21 senior officers out of which 19 are Lieutenant Colonels and 2 Squadron Leaders. It aims at enhancing and deepening the knowledge of the participants in contemporary security threats, governance and policy-related matters. It would cover Unit administration, multi-domain operations, peace support operations, geo-politics, international diplomacy, counter-terrorism, cyberwarfare, artificial intelligence, robotics, strategic leadership and communication.

Opening the course on behalf of the Chief of the Army Staff (COAS), Brigadier General William Abotsi, Deputy Chief Staff Officer (Policy and Plans) at the Army Headquarters, reminded the participants that the course forms an important part of their career progression irrespective of Service and speciality.



He acknowledged the former Chief of the Defence Staff, General Thomas Oppong Peprah, then as the COAS, for coming out with the laudable initiative.

He emphasized that ACTS has a reputation for maintaining high standards in training and urged the participants to work hard to uphold these standards.
