The donation in support of youth development through sports is expected to boost the morale and provide the necessary support for the teams to excel. Speaking on behalf of the Flag Officer Commanding, Eastern Naval Command (ENC), Commodore Solomon Asiedu-Larbi, the Commanding Officer, Naval Base Tema, Commander Wendell Fiifi Owusu, commended the gesture and noted it would significantly enhance the capabilities of the teams and foster a robust sports culture within the Ghana Navy. 
A former Chief of the Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Geoffrey Mawuli Biekro (Rtd), has donated Ten Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH₵10,000) to the Biekro Barracks Soccer Academy and Basketball Team on Saturday 26 July 2025.
In his address, Rear Admiral Biekro (Rtd) expressed his profound satisfaction in fulfilling a pledge he made earlier. He articulated the crucial role of sports in cultivating discipline, teamwork and resilience among the youth. He added that sports serve as a unifying force, instil invaluable life skills and creates enduring memories. Rear Admiral Biekro called for dedication among the teams and recognised the coaches for their unwavering contributions to the development of sports.
