GOC N/COMD calls on traditional rulers and soldiers to reaffirm commitment to peace and regional security

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) Northern Command, Brigadier General Frank Worlanyo Agbebo, has paid a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Ya-Na Abukari Mahama II, at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi on Friday 25 July 2025.

The visit comes on the back of Brigadier General Agbebo’s recent appointment as GOC. He expressed his gratitude to the Ya-Na for his continued support of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), particularly in promoting peace and security in the Northern Region.

In his remarks, the Ya-Na commended the military for its professionalism and critical role in maintaining peace and stability in the region. He also pledged to support the GOC in the discharge of his duties.

As part of his itinerary, the GOC also paid a courtesy call on the Regent of Bimbilla, Nyelinbolgu Naa Yakubu Andani Dassana II, where he shared similar sentiments of appreciation and collaboration.

Brigadier General Agbebo further visited troops deployed on Operation Gong Gong in Yendi and Bimbilla, where he urged them to prioritise their safety, emphasising that it was vital to the successful execution of their duties. He cautioned personnel against disclosing information to strangers or unauthorised persons and reminded them to remain vigilant in the face of the growing terrorism threat from the Sahel region.

He assured the troops of Command’s commitment to addressing their operational challenges to enhance their effectiveness and morale.
