MILITARY PERSONNEL SAVE PLAYER WITH CPR

3 military personnel from the Ghana Navy and Air Force saved the life of footballer, Hamza Abubakar after he collapsed during a Division Two match between BIS Paradise and Sekondi Hasaacas FC at Kobby’s Park, Takoradi, on Saturday, 1 November 2025.
The player fell unconscious during the football match, causing panic among spectators and teammates as the match was halted.

The military personnel, namely, Chief Petty Officer Class II (CPOII) Agyabeng Joseph Kofi, Corporal (Cpl) Atiah Solomon, Leading Seaman (LS) Kakra Benjamin, immediately rushed to the field to assist with a swift emergency response by administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to the unresponsive player. Their timely intervention revived Hamza moments before medical support arrived. He was later transported to a nearby health facility for further care and was reported to be in stable condition.

The swift and heroic action of the soldiers has since drawn widespread praise from spectators, officials, and the general public. The clubs expressed gratitude to them and the Ghana Armed Forces, describing the incident as a clear example of discipline, compassion, and the value of emergency response training.

CPOII Agyabeng from the Western Naval Command is a licence D coach and the team manager for Dolphins FC, Cpl Atiah is a Physical Training Instructor (PTI) at Air Force Base Takoradi and a Class Two referee while LS Kakra is a rating on board Ghana Navy Ship EHWOR and the goalkeeper for Dolphin FC.
